Resiliency is not something you’re born with, but t can be readily learned. It is the ability to adapt well in the face of adversity.
Some aspects of resiliency:
1. Getting together. Talk with your friends and, yes, even with your parents.
2. Cut yourself some slack. Don’t stress out when things happen. Calmly evaluate your options.
3. Create a hassle-free zone. Make your room a “hassle-free zone”.
4. Stick to the program. Often there are many choices. Chose a path and stick with it.
5. Take care of yourself. Be aware of your physical, mentally and emotional needs.
6. Take control. In the midst of uncertainty, you can move toward goals one small step at a time.
7. Express yourself. Sometimes putting your thoughts on paper, such as in a journal helps clarify things.
8. Help somebody. Helping others is a way to lift your spirits.
9. Put things in perspective. When faced with a problem: ask yourself; “What is the problem? How can I solve it?
10. Turn it off. Block out all unnecessary background noise such as TV news and social media dialogs. Create social media free zones during which you can complete required assignments.
Learning resilience helps you to become productive by controlling stress.
